Company Background

Palram Americas Horticultural Product Division is steeped in history that traces back more than 60 years. Originally founded by Carl Schultz in 1985, this division was once operated as an independent company, SPS International.

For more than 40 years prior to starting SPS, Carl was part of a family business called IBG International. Carl ended his career at IBG International as Vice-President and General Manager after building what became one of the largest greenhouse manufacturers in North America.

Since 1985, SPS has relied on Palram as its sole supplier and manufacturing partner for corrugated polycarbonate and other products. The companies collaborated throughout the years to engineer and develop many of the products listed below.

On October 15, 2004, Palram Americas acquired SPS International. Now operating under the name Palram Americas, Horticultural Products Division, the Division is headed up by Carl's son, Stan Schultz. Stan has served for more than 16 years at SPS as National Sales Manager, Vice President of Marketing, and most recently, President of SPS.

Palram Americas Horticultural Products Division manufactures and distributes commercial greenhouse glazing materials and related products throughout the world. Sales and distribution of the Division's products are handled exclusively through a network of Authorized Dealers throughout North America. International sales are handled on a direct basis through the company's headquarters, as well as through Authorized International Distributors.

In 1985, Palram and SPS introduced DynaGlas^®, the first-ever corrugated polycarbonate glazing panel, in North America. In 1991 DynaGlas Plus^®, the only corrugated polycarbonate with guaranteed, field-proven, built-in condensation control, was introduced. In 1995, SPS introduced ThermaGlas®, the first-ever 8mm triple-wall polycarbonate panel, and offering 14% more energy savings than standard twin-wall polycaronate. SPS also introduced in 1995 the SPS DrainAway® Greenhouse Re-Covering System, a patented System that facilitates the easy re-covering of virtually any type of greenhouse, regardless of age, make, or type.

In 2002, SPS introduced the DynaGlas FlexVent™, a patented system that eliminates 80% of the framing extrusions required for ventilators, thereby reducing installed costs by roughly 50%. The FlexVent System required the use of DynaGlas Omega Corrugated Paolycarbonate.

In 2003, Palram SPS introduced the HobbyGrower® Enthusiast™ 6'x8' personal greenhouse. The product marks the beginning of Palram's foray into the consumer greenhouse market. Palram's mission is to become the dominant supplier of low-cost, high quality personal greenhouses.
